Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra a Charitable Trust sponsored by Rotary Club of Kolhapur was founded in April 1969 in order to provide medical aid to the community, especially the amenities which were not available in Kolhapur. The other objects were as follows.
Helping the physically handicapped people.
Promoting the social and educational development of the society.
Late Shri Prabhakar Pant Korgaonkar on behalf of the Korgaonkar Trust donated a plot of land to this trust.
We also purchased adjoining piece of land measuring 1200 sq. feet in 1994. Members of Rotary Club of Kolhapur raised funds and constructed a two storied builder of feet area of 6000 sq. feet for carrying out its various activities. Now people not only from Kolhapur but also from Satara, Sangli, Chiplun, Ratnagiri are taking benefit of our various projects. From l974 to 2000 that is during the period of 21 Years Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra started the following projects and is running them well.
Rajarshi Shahu Blood Bank
Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra Collaboration with Indian Red cross Society and Shetakari Sahakari Sangha started this activity in 1975.This Blood Bank collects blood from purely voluntary blood donors and provides to the needy at a moderate cost.
To promote the idea of voluntary blood donation camps are arranged in urban as well as in rural area. Our Yearly collection is nearly more than 12000 blood bottles. In order to carry out various tests like Australia antigen V.D.R.L. AlDS etc., we have fully equipped laboratory. Though it is mandatory to send the samples to surveillance center. We have our own ultra modern equipment like Eliza reader. We do our own testing in of HIV I and II.
 
Physiotherapy Center

In those days Physiotherapy being a totally new concept physiotherapy center was our Second unique project now may be one of the most successfully run activities. This center helps patients of paralysis, Polio, Fractures, Accidents Spondilosis etc. to rehabilitate themselves. The center is fully equipped with various instruments like S.W.D. Ultrasonic, Galvanic and faradic stimulation various tractions, wax bath and different kinds of exercise material With the help of those equipment patients are treated and given exercises so that they can regain enough strength to carry out their routine work. This treatment is given at concessional rates and absolutely free for poor patients.

Institute of Speech and Hearing
 
This institute was started on 21st July 1980 in the city. It provides diagnosis and treatment to children and adults with disorders of Speech and Hearing.

We help those with the following

  • Stammering
  • Voice disorders.
  • Laryngectomees
  • Cleft Palate
  • Brain Damage
  • Articulatory Defects
  • Congenital Hearing Disorders and deafness in old people.
To do all these tests we have a sound proof room too.

Vikran Gokhale at Speech and Hearing Institute

Recently we have purchased Impedance Audiometer which is very useful in detecting middle and inner ear disorders. A full fledged Ear Mould Laboratory to make ear moulds according to the size of an individual's ear, thus facilitating effective use of hearing aids.

We advise about proper selection of hearing aids to make ear moulds according to the size of the individual's ear. We also help in early detection of hearing loss in infants children and adults with Speech and Hearing Problems by all modern tests.
Guidance and help is given to those who have defect in hearing which can he cured by medical or operative line of treatment. E.N.T. camps are arranged at regular intervals.

0. P. D.: Ear O. P. D. is made available thrice a week that is on Monday. Wednesday and Friday.
 
Deaf Nursery

Children between 2 to 5 years of age are benefited here. At present 7 children are regularly given speech therapy.


Child Guidance Clinic

This center provides diagnosis, treatment and guidance for psychological problems of children below the age of 13 years.
 

Oxygen Bank

Hospitals, Nursing homes and serious patients at their homes are provided with oxygen cylinders by taking nominal charges for seven days. Many hospitals and serious patients are talking benefit of the Bank.

Sick Bed Services

Many times patients need walkers, crutches wheel chair, Fowler's beds etc. only for a short time. After their use they remain idle. Taking into consideration the need we started this unique project - Sick Bed Service. Now it has become very popular and useful too. We provide by taking full deposit and nominal rent.

Yoga Health Center

Scientific training in Yogasana and Pranayam is given at the center. People from different strata are taking benefit of this center regularly. Short term camps, Lectures of renowned personalities are often arranged.
